A couple of Firsts

It is now 3:43 and I really should be sleeping but I can't. And I guess if I am sitting down to type then I should probably type the details of the birth... I am totally going to be dong that, But, not today. I think I want to share a short note about today and a few subtle firsts. The question is which first came first?

The one that is keeping me up is the the favourite first of the day. I was able to feed her. We test drove the pump and got a nice full bottle for me to feed her at her 2 am feeding. This way Kayt could sleep a nice straight 6 hours and Daddy gets to bond with his little girl. It was amazing she just lay there and took the bottle like a champion eater all the while staring into my face. This is another first as I think today she really started to take notice of Kayt and my faces. There was definate ponder in her stare as a pose to her previous blank stare of general wonderment. It was almost like she was taking it all in as if to say ohhh... so you're the voice I keep hearing... gotcha... so you feed me...

Last night Asia slept incredibly well and we both got a combined total of close to 8 hours sleep! So today feeling quite refreshed we decided to take her out and show her off. Where to go? Well my work of course. All the ladies and a few of the guys oohed, aaahed and ogled her. That was nice and all but the best part for us was that we had timed it perfectly with her feeding and were able to enjoy a lunch in Stoney's like a couple. After that we come home and were able to have a nap! Sounds simple but what a great day. This evening when burping Asia, her umbilical cord fell off. This is a bit of a relief as I feel like I bother her every time I change her diaper and brush it. I think it is quite facinating as this little thing was her life line for 9ish months. However, we wont be adding this little keep sake to the scrap book.

In hind sight I am not sure how interesting this post is to the general public so I put some pictures in to make it a bit more... pictureesque for lack of a better word

A note from Auntie Keli

From: keli Robertson

Received: Saturday, September 20, 2008, 8:33 PM

Hello all!

Chris and I just got back from the hospital and just so you know, mom and baby are doing great... Stefan... well... no change. He is kinda "punchy" from the lack of sleep, but you wouldn't really notice.

By request of Kayt and Stefan's we are sharing some photo's of the new addition to Kayt and Stefan's family.

I think the baby is just about perfect, I'm not saying baby is absolute perfection, but I am saying that if perfection needed to set it's watch, baby Mahon would be the place to do it. Please keep an eye out for more pictures on their blog. Stefan wanted to post them personally but he just couldn't tear himself away from mom and baby.

Formal introductions to follow.

Love,
Auntie Keli

A Word From Auntie Kandis

I have been waiting on pins and needles for Kayt & Stefan to update their blog - and now that they have done the official introductions of their new little girlie I can finally start bragging about our adorable little niece on our blog!

Joel and I are thrilled to welcome our newest little neice Asia Violet Christina Mahon!!! On Saturday September 20, 2008 at 9:59am Kayt and Stefan watched their beautiful little 8 pound babe come into this world!! We think she is just beautiful and can't get enough pictures of her - even though her Mom and Dad say that no picture yet has done her any justice!!

It's so hard to be so far from home right now - I want nothing more than to meet this beautiful little neice of ours however due to our own little one working her own schedule it will be until Christmas until these little girls get to meet :(

You can click on the link to the right to see more from the Mahon's on this sweet girl! I'm so proud of my sister (and her hubby) as by all accounts Asia wasn't in any hurry to enter this world (18 hours to even get close to delivering - yikes!!!) but when she was ready there was no stopping her and she came out with a flourish!!

I talked with Kayt and Stefan shortly after and they were both so wonderfully happy (and just a bit tired) - it has just made Joel and I even more excited for the day we get to meet our little one! And yes I'm very jealous of Kayt not being pregnant anymore . . . however I hear that bit of tiredness in her voice and it reminds me to treasure my sleep while I can ;-)

For those of you lucky enough to get to see her - be sure to give Asia some extra hugs and kisses from Auntie Kandis and Uncle Joel!
